April 30 in the morning, the light bulb came on. The bells were ringing and I was rejoicing. Why? Some of you have been praying with me for two years over a health issue. Was it an allergy? Was it a digestive problem, or worse? The hardest part was not knowing what the problem was and having days that I wish would disappear off the face of the calendar. I’ve had every test under the sun. Nothing. The last thing my Internist said was, “maybe you will just have to adjust.” I responded with, I can live with the drainage, but not the vomiting – up to double diget numbers every day. After more tests including one for allergies, the ENT’s comment was, “I have never seen so many zeros.”
I was coming to the end of the rope for things to look for. Even though some allergy tests had come back negative, I went to see if doctor number four could come up with anything. The Allergist had to do more testing than normal, but came up that I DO have an allergy to dust mites and mold. But, the other thing she flagged was that one of the pills that I take has a side effect of itchy throat and cough. WOW! Put those together and with the “gagger” that I am, really explains what has probably been the problem all alone for nearly 800 days. Is this really the root of the problem. Only time will tell. But at least the doctor came up with two very probable sources. This is a time to PRAISE THE LORD. I’m just finishing reading 2 Chronicles and reality is that I would love to bring out the trumpets, cymbals, harps and lyres. And don’t forget the choir.
Keep praying. I’m definitely not out of the woods. I have a lot to learn. I know this is probably old hat to some of you, but after living two years under very difficult circumstances, I need to learn so every day is better. PRAISE THE LORD WITH ME. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME. AND ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD!!!
Today we were able to get together with Carlos’ widow, Juana, two daughters and their son. It was difficult in that this was the first time I have seen them since Carlos and Edwin went to be with the Lord. We spent a good part of the day together enjoying breakfast, shopping ,lunch and a time of prayer. My Edwin said it was the first time he has seen them laugh since that fateful day. Thanks to many of you, we are able to continue helping them. Today we delivered enough firewood for a month, beans, rice and other staples for a month, a few boxes of needed dishes, clothes, shoes and other miscellaneous items. Keep praying for them. Seven of Juana’s children are not in this photo as they were either out working or in school. We are in the process of helping them open a small store for basic food items right from their simple home.
Praises and Prayers
1) Praise the Lord that my health is improving allowing me to get back to seminars and traveling with Edwin. Pray that I will fully recouperate.
2) Praise God for people helping Juana and her children through these hard times. Pray that God will give Juana wisdom as she raises 11 children on her own.
3) Pray for Edwin as he travels back to Villahermosa, Mexico this Sunday to continue preparations for the June Festival. He travels by bus when leaving from Guatemala. Pray for safety on the long trip. I leave Tuesday back to Atlanta.
